Height and Weight: 13-16 inches and 20-35 pounds

Coat: Long, Thick and Wavy
Activity: Cocker Spaniels are an athletic breed, so they will enjoy a nice amount of activity indoors and outdoors. They are very good at playing by themselves indoors.
Grooming: When their hair is kept long, daily brushing is needed to prevent matting. It is most important to keep ears clean, dry and free of hair. When kept short, hair cuts are recommended every 6-8 weeks.
Shedding: Our Cocker puppies for sale are average shedding. However, regular brushing does help with this.

Origin: The American and English Cocker are cousins, because the American was bred down from the English size. Their type of dog has been found in literature for more than 500 years. The first Spaniels are thought to have originated in Spain, hence the name Spaniel, although it is not proven. Although they’re origin is not completely known, they were used as field and land spaniels for retrieving hunted birds. The name Cocker was first derived from their ability to hunt the Eurasian Woodcock. The Cockers we know today were first bred in England, then later in America to different physical standards. The AKC officially recognized the Cocker Spaniel in 1878. They then recognized the English Cocker as a separate breed in 1946 then the American Cocker in 1970.
