Appearance and Needs of the French Bulldog
Height and Weight: 10-14 inches and 16-30 pounds
Color: Variety of colors and markings
Coat: Short and Sleek
Activity: Frenchies are a calm breed, but will enjoy a good romp or outdoor walk in the temperature is right. This breed is very sensitive to extreme temperatures, and should be kept indoors in extreme heat to maintain their body temperature and correct breathing.
Grooming: Bathe when needed, keep nails trimmed. It is also very important to keep any wrinkles clean and free of moisture.
Shedding: There will be shedding with a French Bulldog, however, they do not have an undercoat so the hairs are very short and shedding is minimal to average.
Life Expectancy: 10-12 years
Origin: The modern French Bulldog descends from the dogs of an ancient Greek tribe, the Molossians. As they evolved into the Frenchies that we know today, they were used for sports like bull-baiting. This was outlawed in 1835 and the modern Frenchie began to enjoy a life of companionship instead of sportmanship as breeds like Pug and Terriers were bred into their bloodlines. This created the look and temperament that has made the breed so fashionable and sought after for so long. They were recognized by the AKC first in 1905 as the Bouledogue Francais, then in 1912 as the modern French Bulldog.
I think it’s a safe bet that *I* love your puppies! LOL Miss MoneyPenny is the 5th puppy I’ve purchased from you! If you will recall, I bought 3 puppies in one day. One of these days, when I can get them to sit still long enough, we’ll try and take a group picture and send it to you. I guess I would be one of your biggest fans! I adore them all and each of them has brought a lot of joy to our families!
